Victor Page scored 29 points, and Georgetown held off 14th-ranked Villanova 78-67 on Monday night in a Big East Conference game in Landover, Md.

The Hoyas (12-7 overall, 5-6 conference) came up with their biggest victory of the season by not folding when Villanova ate up all but four points of 21-point second-half lead. They also made 77 percent of their free throws (27 of 35), an impressive number for a team that entered the game shooting 57 percent from the line. At one point, Georgetown was 18-of-21 from the line.

Alvin Williams led the Wildcats (15-6, 6-4) with 17 points, Tim Thomas had 13 and John Celestand 11.

There was a brief fracas near the end of the first half when Boubacar Aw was fouled by Thomas. As Aw was being restrained by teammates, there were some shoves and suddenly official Steve Welmer was on the floor with Aw. Order was restored and in addition to Thomas' foul, technical fouls were charged to Howard Brown of Villanova and Shernard Long of Georgetown.
