RVC GIRLS WIN EASILY

Gina Guthrie scored 32 points and Rebecca Bryant had 26 points and 11 rebounds Monday to lead Roanoke Valley Christian to a 92-29 girls' basketball victory over Stuart Hall.

Guthrie made four 3-pointers and had six steals for Roanoke Valley Christian (15-4, 7-1), which leads its division in the Blue Ridge Conference. Tiffany Dobbs scored 16 points and Nia Douglas added 10.

Lynchburg Christian Academy 45, Roanoke Catholic 42: The Celtics stayed close, but could not overtake the Bulldogs in a Blue Ridge Conference game at Lynchburg.

Christy Hinman had 18 points, 10 rebounds and six steals for Roanoke Catholic (2-14, 1-9), which had a final possession to tie but did not convert.

Boys

George Wythe 77, Rural Retreat 46: Freshman Lance Goff scored 12 points and made two 3-pointers, and Brian Barnes had 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Maroons to a win in a Hogoheegee District battle of Wythe County teams.

Justin Bourne had a solid floor game with 11 points, seven assists and four steals for George Wythe (9-3, 5-1). Damien Taylor added 10 points as all 13 Maroons scored.

Wayne Terry scored 10 for Rural Retreat (1-8, 1-3)
