3 ARRESTED IN BLACKSBURG ROBBERY

Town police arrested two teen-agers and one 20-year-old man in connection with the Jan. 27 armed robbery at the A&J Quick Stop on North Main Street.

Police charged two 16-year-old boys, one from Peterstown, W.Va., and the other from the Rich Creek section of Giles County, with robbery. Their names are not being released because they are minors.

Jimmy R. Thornton, also of Peterstown, was charged with robbery and is free on $5,000 bond.

Police recovered neither the money taken nor the weapon used.

Lt. Bruce Bradbery said a tip on the department's Tip Line helped solve the case. Information about any crime can be left anonymously on the line by calling 961-1819.

Bradbery said police are still looking for two men who took an undisclosed amount of cash and a money bag from a 7-Eleven store safe Friday at Draper Road and West Roanoke Street in downtown Blacksburg. One suspect distracted the cashier as the other grabbed the money. Because no force was used, the crime is being classified as grand larceny.
