FREE TAX COUNSELING FOR SENIORS OFFERED

The Christiansburg Senior Center is taking applications for free tax counseling for the elderly. Tax-trained volunteers from the American Association of Retired Persons will be at the senior center Thursday, Feb. 20, 27, March 6, 13, 20, 27, April 3 and 10, all from 1 to 4 p.m. Appointments must be scheduled. Call 382-8173 for information.

A needlework exhibit is scheduled for April 19 at the Christiansburg National Guard Armory. The categories will include embroidery, cross-stitch, miniature, antique, hooking and hand sewn. Applications are available at the Christiansburg Department of Parks and Recreation and the Senior Center. The entry fee for one to three entries is $3 each. Additional entries are $1.50 each. The exhibit is open to ages 18 and older. Call Sherry Kostric at 382-8173 for information.
