BOTETOURT MAN CHARGED WITH RAPE

A Botetourt County man has been charged with raping his former girlfriend, a Roanoke woman.

Lineal "Tray" Gregory, 31, also is charged with sodomy and object sexual penetration, according to a search warrant filed in the Botetourt Circuit Court clerk's office.

The 20-year-old woman told Botetourt Sheriff's Investigator Beth Musselwhite that her ex-boyfriend invited her to his cabin to talk on Feb.19 and after a while, tried to initiate sex, Botetourt Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Ronnie Clay said. When she refused, the woman told the investigator, the man forced himself on her.

Gregory, a former Roanoke police officer, was arrested Feb. 27. He is free on $3,000 bond.
