Program focuses on fertilizing|

The Roanoke office of the Virginia Cooperative Extension will present a free program on "Fertilizing Your Garden for the Environment Plus Great Harvests," April 3, 7 p.m., in the training theater in the Jefferson Center. A question and answer period is included. Call 857-7915 to preregister.

3 seminars planned on foreign adoption

ABC Adoption Services Inc. will hold an international adoption seminar Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the agency offices, 4725 Garst Mill Road. Additional seminars will be held April 15 and 29. The seminar will give families information on the adoption process and will help them explore the options available.

ABC Adoption Services works in partnership with several agencies which have programs in China, Russia, Eastern Europe and Central and South America.

Zoo collecting six-pack rings

Mill Mountain Zoo is recycling six-pack rings through the Ring Leader Recycling Program. Zoo staff will be collecting the rings and returning them to the manufacturer, ITW Hi-Cone. Mill Mountain Zoo also recycles paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum and newspaper. For more information, call 343-3241 ext. 14.

Auditions set for children's choir

Auditions for the Roanoke College Preparatory Division Children's Choir will be held May 7-9 at Olin Hall from 4 to 7 p.m. Children must be at least 8 years old as of Sept. 1 to be eligible. Applicants should have one song prepared for audition and will be asked to sing "My Country 'Tis of Thee."

The Children's Choir is directed by Kimberly Davidson, includes 170 children, ages 8 to 18, and three choirs. To schedule an audition, call 375-2096 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Recruiting for Upward Bound

Roanoke College is now recruiting students for its Upward Bound Program, designed to prepare high schools students for success in college. The program is open to students in ninth and 10th grades who attend Northside, Salem, Patrick Henry, Glenvar or William Fleming high schools. For more information, students may contact their school counselors. All applications must be submitted by April 25.
