FOR THE RECORD

The March 31 Cuppa Joe column contained several errors. Fizer Funeral Home in Roanoke is a family-owned business managed by Sterling G. Fizer. Wording in the column made the ownership unclear. In addition, Skip Tharp of Simpson-Tharp is not a partner in a funeral home in Rocky Mount. Also, the Rader funeral homes in Daleville and Buchanan are managed separately from Lotz, though both are owned by Service Corp. International.

The name of Richard Burrow, executive director of the National D-Day Memorial Foundation, was spelled incorrectly in a Monday story on the memorial.

The source of new Roanoke area population estimates included in a graphic in Monday's paper was the U.S. Census Bureau.

The last lines of an Associated Press story about David Reed's dispute with the IRS were omitted in Monday's paper. The article should have ended as follows:

It's possible that the IRS office in Philadelphia will hold its ground, but we can file an appeal if it does, he said. Then he tried to reassure me:

``I can't imagine they would.''
