CELEBRATION - ANNIVERSARIES

Hillman anniversary

Wesley V. and Edith O. Hillman celebrated their 50th anniversary on April 8, 1997. The couple was married April 8, 1947 at Melrose Chapel, Roanoke, Va. They have lived in Roanoke all their married life. She is the former Edith Overstreet. They have one daughter, Melinda, of Newport News, Va., and two grandchildren. They are both retired.

Edith is a charter member of Alpine Garden Club, member of First Baptist Church and the Chancel Choir. Wes is a founding member of CAP, OX5 Club, Silver Wings Fraternity, Va. Aviation Hall of Fame, and Quiet Birdmen Fraternity.

After surviving the operation of a flying service as a pioneer aviator, Wes and Edith Hillman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They would say their greatest accomplishment is their family, Melind a and Gary Stewart, grandchildren Mark and Beth Stewart.

Slusher anniversary

Jack W. and Merle Danner Slusher celebrated their 50th anniversary on April 12, 1997, with a dinner at d.j.'s brasserie restaurant. They were married on April 12, 1947, at Melrose Baptist Church by Dr. W. B. Denson. Mrs. Slusher is the daughter of the late Ray V. and Mabel W. Danner, and Mr. Slusher is the son of Thelma J. Slusher and the late Clyde L. Slusher, Sr.

The celebration was hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Tom and Janeth Bibb of Charlottesville; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lelia Slusher of Raleigh, N.C. They have three grandchildren, Caryn Slusher Willey and Michael Slusher, Raleigh, and Tommy Bibb, Charlottesville.

Mr. Slusher is retired from Greyhound Lines, Inc. and Mrs. Slusher retired from Dominion Bankshares Corporation. The couple recently moved to The Plantation at Leesburg, Florida.

Stout anniversary

Elizabeth and B.C. Stout celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, April 12th, at a reception given by their children and spouses, Diane and Tommy Thompson, Betty and Paul Kirstein, and Tom and Linda Stout. They have numerous grandchildren. Liz, B.C., and their children would like to thank everyone who made this a very special occasion.Wright anniversary

Surrounded by family and friends, Wilbur ``Hunk'' Wright and Erma B. Wright celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They were honored at a reception at the Daleville Church of the Brethren on April 12, 1997.

They were married in Tennessee on April 10, 1947.

Living in Daleville, Virginia, they are the parents of a son, Robert (Robbie) Wright and the proud grandparents of three children.

``Hunk'' retired from Norfolk Southern and Erma from Hollins College.
