JOYCE S. GAYLE

Joyce Smith Gayle, 59, of 321 Hunterdale Road, died Wednesday, July 6, 1994, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mrs. Gayle was born in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. She was a former secretary in the Woodlands Division of Union Camp and was a former computer operator in the Data Processing Department for Paul D. Camp Community College. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and a former member of the Franklin Woman's Club.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Roger Gayle Sr.; one daughter, Melinda Gayle Lee of Franklin; two sons, Charles Roger Gayle Jr. of Chesapeake and Robert Benjamin Gayle of Franklin; her mother, Mildred Revelle Smith of Franklin; a sister, Alice Smith Oliver of Chesapeake; a brother, William C. Smith of Greensboro; six grandchildren, Jennifer Mae Gayle, Brandi Lynn Gayle, Amy Meagan Gayle, Amanda Kristen Lee, Brandon Spencer Lee and Abbey Danielle Lee; three nieces and one nephew. Mrs. Gayle was predeceased by her father, Robert Spencer Smith.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Franklin Baptist Church with Dr. Roy DeBrand officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

She loved life and she loved people.
