JEANE H. BROOKS

Jeane H. Brooks, 73, died at Pendleton Health Care Center in Mystic, Conn., on July 13, 1994, of complications following a massive stroke.

She was the daughter of the late David and Lillian (Helms) Hafner, longtime Norfolk residents, and the sister of William Hafner, an Army Air Force pilot lost in the Southwest Pacific in WWII. A graduate of Maury High School, she attended William & Mary (Norfolk branch) for two years before entering government service as a material expediter at the Norfolk Naval Air Station.

She lived for over 40 years in various communities in the Hudson River Valley (NY) moving to the Connecticut shoreline last Labor Day.

Surviving are her husband, John Brooks of Stonington; four daughters, Gayle Brooks of Chicago, Martha Peterson of Mattapoisett, Mass., Susan Dispenza of Newtown, Conn. and Leslie Pesante Pesante of Casselberry, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Private interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, Va. There are no calling hours. Arrangements by Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic, Conn.
