MOZELL D. COWELL

Mozell Dent Cowell of the 3300 block of Loam St., departed this life on July 11, 1994 in DePaul Medical Center.

She was born in Nash County, N.C., and was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Berkley Ave. She was president of the Jubilee Gospel Choir and a member of the Inspirational Choir. She was also a member of United Order of Tents.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Cowell Sr.; daughter, Sheila Cowell; sons, Richard Cowell Jr. and George Cowell, all of Norfolk; eight sisters, Lessie Avent of California, Melette Dent of New York, Marie Carpenter of Chesapeake, Helen Woods, Elsie Khan, Shirley Tribbles and Ruth Parker, all of North Carolina, Odessa Johnson of Florida; three brothers, Eugene Dent of North Carolina, Joseph Dent and James Dent of Virginia Beach; two aunts, Nannie Cowell of Chesapeake and Jessie Dent of Newport News; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two adopted children, James and Shirley Galvin of Norfolk; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Berkley Ave., Norfolk, by Dr. I. Joseph Williams. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. United Order of Tents will assemble for a service at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Norfolk, at 6 p.m. today. The family will receive friends at the residence, 3358 Loam St., Norfolk, and will assemble there at 2 p.m. Saturday for the funeral procession to the church.
