O. BRANCH, CHARLES PEETE TO ADVANCE

Olive Branch will be the District 6 representative in the Senior Little League state tournament and Charles Peete will carry the city banner in the Junior League.

The lone champion remaining to be crowned in District 6 Little League baseball was to be determined this weekend with the wind-up of the Major League baseball tournament at the Driver Field.

Wednesday, Charles Peete captured the Junior title with a 26-5 victory over Olive Branch. Charles Peete was the finalist from the winners bracket but lost, ,7-6, to losers bracket finalist Olive Branch Tuesday on the Wilson field, forcing a final showdown game in the double-elimination tournament.

Olive Branch won the Senior championship on Tuesday with a 7-2 victory over Charles Peete.

In the District 6 Major League tournament, the winner of Thursday's game between Churchland and Bennetts Creek became the first finalist.

In a losers' bracket game Thursday the two Olive Branch teams, Blue and Gold, squared off. That winner was scheduled to play the Churchland-Bennetts Creek loser on Friday for the losers bracket crown.

Olive Branch Gold eliminated Cradock and Olive Branch Blue ousted Wilson on Wednesday. Tuesday Cradock knocked out Charles Peete and Wilson eliminated Cavalier Manor.

The championship game was scheduled Saturday morning.

Earlier Churchland won the 10-year-old baseball title at Cavalier Manor. Churchland qualified for the state tournament opening this week at St. Paul. Churchland will meet the District 8 champ on Wednesday.

Wilson won the 10-year-old softball crown earlier and advances to the state tournament at the Azalea Little League complex. Wilson will play the District 11 winner on Thursday.

In the Senior softball tourney Wednesday at the Driver Field, Cavalier Manor topped Wilson, 11-10, in nine innings. Churchland was scheduled to play Cradock on Thursday.

In the Major tournament Olive Branch walloped Cradock, 21-4, Wednesday. On Thursday Cavalier Manor and Wilson squared off.
