The 37 employees who retired from area schools in June invested a combined 777 years in Western Tidewater's youth.
Some were in the profession even longer. The years listed below, with one exception, reflect only their tenure in the job from which they retired.
Schools in Suffolk, Franklin and Isle of Wight and Southampton counties bid farewell this spring to teachers, administrators and a variety of support personnel, among them cafeteria workers, bus drivers and janitors.
