AUGUSTUS WHITEHEAD JR.

Augustus ``Gus'' Whitehead Jr., formerly of the 200 block of Choate St., Portsmouth, and a longtime resident of Boston, Mass., died July 23, 1994, after a brief illness in a Massachusetts hospital.

Mr. Whitehead was preceded in death by his father, Augustus Whitehead Sr. He leaves to mourn his mother, Mrs. Vera Whitehead of Portsmouth; five daughters, Cheryl Smith, Valerie Patilla, Nanette Stewart and Dana Williams of Boston, Laveria Edmonds of Maine; one sister, Mrs. Doris Atkins of Portsmouth; three brothers, James Whitehead of Boston, Charles Whitehead of Orlando, Fla., and Anthony Whitehead of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and a devoted companion and friend, Miss Denise Williams of Boston.

Funeral services and burial will be held Friday, July 29, 1994. Johnson Funeral Home of Boston is in charge.
