CHARLES N. RAIFORD

Charles N. Raiford, 64, died Aug. 11, 1994, in Salem.

He was a native of Southampton County and was a Baptist. He was a graduate of Franklin High School and attended the Norfolk Division of William and Mary and the University of Alabama. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and had been a patient of the V.A. Hospital in Salem for several years.

Survivors include four sisters, Hazel Rhodes of Windsor, Lucille Wellons of College Park, Md., Margaret Shenberger of Salem and Earnestine Watkins of Greensboro, N.C.; and three brothers, J. Edmond Raiford of Norfolk, Franklin Raiford of Franklin and Merritt Raiford of Courtland.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley, with the Rev. Joseph A. Talley officiating. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
