A PRO-CHOICE BUSH? YES - IT'S BARBARA

Barbara Bush, whose autobiography, ``A Memoir,'' hits stores next month, is through holding her tongue on the issue of abortion.

``And you are pro-choice?'' ABC's Barbara Walters asks her in a ``20/20'' interview to air Sept. 9.

``That's right, and that comes as no surprise to George Bush,'' says the former first lady, who didn't speak her mind publicly on the subject during his presidency or vice presidency. Her husband supports abortion only in cases of rape or incest or when the woman's life is at risk.

``I don't feel I can be judgmental with others,'' she says. ``With George, it's really against his religion to have an abortion. He thinks it's killing. I don't argue with that. . . . He never was pro-choice. He was always anti-abortion.'' ILLUSTRATION: Barbara Bush
