JOHN L. MURPHY

John L. Murphy, 60, of the 5400 block of Gale Drive, died Aug. 18, 1994, in a local hospital.

Mr. Murphy was born in Panther, W.Va., and was the widower of Dorothy Akers Murphy. He was a retired GS-12 production controller from the Naval Air Rework Facility. He was a member of the Norfolk Moose Lodge (NU)39.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Akers Murphy; three daughters, Janet Johnson, Paula Warwick and Pamela Murphy, all of Chesapeake; two sons, John L. Murphy Jr. of Virginia Beach and James M. Murphy of Chesapeake; four sisters, Betty J. Little and Marty Holmes, both of Norfolk, Carol Adkins of Chesapeake and Billie L. Massung of Miami; a brother, James Murphy of Jacksonville, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
