EDWARD SCARBOR

Edward ``Eddie'' Scarbor, 66, of 618 of W. 37th St., died Aug. 22, 1994, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, of cancer/end stage renal failure.

Mr. Scarbor was born in Rocky Mount, N.C., on Aug. 9, 1928. He retired in 1986 as supervisor, plant services division, production engineering department of the Naval Air Rework Facility after 30 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk and was a student in the New Members Class.

Mr. Scarbor was preceded in death by his mother, Vinnia Chambers Scarbor; his father, Haywood Scarbor; a daughter, Bernadine L. Norman; and a brother, Haywood Scarbor Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mae Yancey Scarbor; daughters, Belma A. Weeks, Donessa D. Simms of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Bridgett C. Farris of Norfolk; son, Elton C. Scarbor of Norfolk; sisters, Joyce Johnson Gray of Brooklyn, N.Y., Ann S. Hines of Rocky Mount, N.C., Jean Scarbor, Thomasina Scarbor, Darlene Brevard of Norfolk; his stepmother, Catherine C. Scarbor of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 12 nieces and nephews; aunts, Gertrude Barnes, Alma Walker of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Daisy Chambers of Philadelphia; uncles, Clarence Scarbor of Driver, Va., and Sylvester Thorne of Rocky Mount, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Thelma Pette and Ruth Harris; brothers-in-law, Edward, Vernon, Albert and Vincent Yancey; daughter-in-law, Sarah E. Scarbor of Norfolk; three sons-in-law; and a host of relatives and friends, including Joe & Sarah, George Turner, Jesse Massey, the Dunnings, the Williams', Frentress/Webb, Thalheimers, Naval Air Rework Facility and NKC, etc.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Calvary Revival Church, 1148 E. Little Creek Road, by Associate Pastor Robert Mason. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Eddie will lie in state at Metropolitan Funeral Service Chapel until 8 a.m. Friday morning, and then from 9 to 10 a.m. at Calvary Revival Church.
