JAMES S. WILLIAMS SR.

James S. Williams Sr., 56, of the 4600 block of Twain Lane, a retired U.S. Navy veteran, died Aug. 28, 1994, in Virginia Beach.

Mr. Williams was born in Pontiac, Mich., son of Mildred Chase Williams of Lake Orion, Mich., and the late Stuart E. Williams. He was retired from the Navy after 20 years and served in the Vietnam War. He retired from the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Electronics Engineer, Suffolk. He was a member of Fleet Reserve Association, Branch (NU)99, American Legion, life member, past chief and president, Davis Corner Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad, Inc.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Janice Williams; two daughters, Jeryl Barnett of Norfolk and Jane Cheslock of Richmond; two sons, Jeffrey Barnett of Norfolk and James S. Williams Jr. of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Janice Honeycutt of Albuquerque, N.M., and Carol Webster of Lake, Mich.; two brothers, Charles Williams of Oxford, Mich., and David Williams of Lake Orion, Mich.; and a grandson, Michael Cheslock.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Haygood United Methodist Church by the Rev. Alan Reifsnyder. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A Fleet Reserve service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Davis Corner Rescue Squad, 4672 Haygood Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23455.
