THOMAS C. GREEN

Thomas Charles ``Shane'' Green, 59, of the 1600 block of Loren Crescent, a retired auditor and full-time artist, died Aug. 26, 1994, in his home in Portsmouth.

He was born March 1, 1935, in Knoxville, Tenn., to the late Joseph Nathan ``Dad'' Green and Mary Belle Hurd Green.

Shane graduated from I.C. Norcom High School, Portsmouth, and from Virginia State College, Petersburg, Va., with degrees in chemistry (1958) and accounting (1965).

He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1958 and resigned that commission as a captain in 1963.

Shane worked with the Norfolk Naval Audit Service as an auditor and training coordinator for approximately 25 years.

After retiring a few years ago, Shane devoted himself to being a full-time artist. He has had his art displayed in galleries and shows in Tidewater, Petersburg, Richmond, Luray and Washington, D.C.

He was a member of the Back Bay Wildfowl Guild and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He was a former member of Mount Hermon Baptist Temple.

Shane is survived by his wife, Sylvia Bruce Wallace Green; a son, Thomas Charles Green Jr. and daughter-in-law, Norma Allen Green, both of Chesapeake; a son, Lawrence Michael Green of Munich, Germany; and two grandsons, Kirk Tinelius Allen and Derrick Tremaine Allen. He is also survived by a brother, Joseph Nathan Green of Warner Robins, Ga.; and a sister, Jacqueline Green Booker of Roxboro, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Flora Wallace Doyle of Silver Spring, Md.; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a devoted family pet, Charlie Parker.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Leon J. Boone. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
