GREENBRIER MISCUES GIVE BENEDICTINE 29-21 WIN

Benedictine's Geremy Inman scooped up a fumble, one of three Greenbrier turnovers in the fourth quarter, and raced 43 yards for the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter as Bendictine defeated Greenbrier, 29-21, Friday night.

After Inman's score had given the Richmond school a 26-21 lead, Andy Allen added a 31-yard field goal to account for the final margin.

Greenbrier (0-2) burst to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Brian Smith scored on a 37-yard run and Chad Dunlow caught a 7-yard pass from David Hair.

Bo Harris had two scoring runs and a TD catch for Benedictine.

Greenbrier took a 21-20 lead on a 42-yard pass from David Hair to Smith. Hair passed for 137 yards.

CHESAPEAKE - Jonathan Keese threw an 80-yard touchdown pass and raced 31 yards with a recovered fumble for another score as Atlantic Shores downed Nansemond-Suffolk in the debut game of the Colonial Football Association.

Keese also made a touchdown-saving tackle on Mark Fowler after the N-SA running back had dashed 53 yards to the Seahawks 11. Three plays later, Atlantic Shores linebacker Jonathan Thompson plucked a Walt Bondurant fumble out of midair and scampered 86 yards for a touchdown.

Fowler ran for 147 yards and a touchdown and also made an interception for N-SA (0-1, 0-1), which lost despite gaining eight more first downs and 17 more total yards than Atlantic Shores (2-0, 1-0).

D.J. Jordan and Nathan Oates added scoring runs for Atlantic Shores.

The CFA includes Norfolk Academy, Hampton Roads Academy and Catholic, in addition to Atlantic Shores and N-SA, and is the area's first private school football league since the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools dropped football in the mid-1980s. by CNB
