COUNTER THE CLINTON BASHERS

I rejoice! Finally, a voice expressing my feelings about our president and our country (``Let's act like we have only one president - show respect,'' Another View, Sept. 16). Then, I realized there are many of us who feel this way. How else would he have been elected?

Why are we not speaking out? Why do we let others attack and tear him apart like vultures on a feeding frenzy without even a rebuttal? It isn't the ``in'' thing to show admiration and respect for this president, even though he has accomplished more than any other since Franklin Delano Roosevelt. And I'm not even a Democrat!

It also occurred to me that many of the Clinton bashers do so only to agree with a neighbor or co-worker. They either have no minds of their own or fear being socially incorrect if they don't jump on the bandwagon with the followers of Rush Limbaugh, G. Gordon Liddy, Tony Macrini, Pat Murphy, et al., ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

No other president in our history has been subjected to the slander, criticism and downright insults thrown at this man since the day he took office. Yet, not one of his predecessors is any more eligible for sainthood than he. This man, and this office, deserve our support and respect.
