REVIEWING NORTH

A quick review of Oliver North's resume:

Patriotism: 269 U.S. Marines were killed at the Beirut airport by the Iranians. Oliver North sold them the weapons. This is an American hero?

Honesty: North's only noticeable skill is an exceptional talent for fabrication and deceit. At times he seems unable to distinguish fact from fantasy. His habitual lying has been well-documented, even by the conservative Reader's Digest.

Political Outsider: He conducted covert foreign policy from the White House basement. You don't get any more inside the Beltway than that. He has been campaigning with Bob Dole and Dan Quayle. If he wasn't a politician in the past, he sure is acting like one now.

Experience: Sure he has a criminal record, but that is different from having a legislative record. North boasts of his lack of legislative experience as if it is a virtue. Would you select your doctor or plumber or anyone else to work for you with similar inexperience? Why hold our senators to a lesser standard?

Effectiveness: As a freshman senator without the support of Sen. Warner, North would not be assigned to the influential committees that impact Virginia. Ineffective in representing Virginia, he would use the position only to stay in front of the cameras and promote himself as a presidential candidate.

If we elect Oliver North, Virginia will be the laughingstock of the nation.

Re-elect Chuck Robb - a patriotic, honest, experienced, effective senator with a record of public service to Virginia.
