GREEN RUN WORKS TO TAKE 35-11 WIN VS. PRINCESS ANNE

VIRGINIA BEACH - It took Green Run nearly three quarters to make the adjustments needed to pull out a 35-11 victory over a Princess Anne squad that played up to its preseason billing.

Green Run (5-0 overall, 4-0 in the Beach District) held a 7-3 lead after two periods on a 31-yard pass from Glenwood Ferebee to Cedric Warren. Princess Anne's Richie Rosso kicked a 21-yard field goal with eight seconds left in the half.

Warren opened the second half with a 14-yard scoring run for Green Run, only to have Princess Anne (1-4, 1-4) close the gap to 14-11 on a 1-yard quarterback sneak by Justin Sharp and a 2-point conversion pass from Rashad Rogers.

But the Stallions finally took charge, scoring three unanswered touchdowns.

Ferebee passed 27 yards to Ben Root for one score and then ran six yards for another. Roger Lee rounded out the scoring with an 18-yarder with 1:38 remaining.

PA's Mike Majette led all rushers with 100 yards on 26 carries.

Tallwood 35 Kellam 0

VIRGINIA BEACH - The Lions remained unbeaten while sending the Knights down to their 20th consecutive defeat.

Tallwood (5-0, 4-0) limited Kellam to three first downs and 35 yards total yards, all on the ground. The Lions forced four turnovers that led directly to three touchdowns.

Tallwood led, 7-0, at halftime on John Joseph's 19-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

Kellam received the second-half kickoff, but fumbled on the first play at its own 20. Five plays later, freshman Taron Anderson scored the first of his three touchdowns on an 8-yard run.

Anderson added scoring runs of 1 and 6 yards. He led all rushers with 80 yards in 21 carries.

Western Branch 48 Wilson 26

CHESAPEAKE - Wilson's Darryl Scott won the battle, but Western Branch won the war as the Bruins rallied from an early deficit.

Scott, the Southeastern District's leading rusher, gained a career-high 253 yards in 20 carries and scored three touchdowns.

But the Bruins countered with the passing of Darryl Walton, who was 8 of 14 for 164 yards an three TDs.

Walton connected on scoring tosses of 54 and 5 yards to wingback Dre Bly and completed a 30-yard touchdown to split end Jeff Leiker.

Norview 33 Great Bridge 21

CHESAPEAKE - Norview's Richard Griffin stripped the ball from Great Bridge's Corey Holley at the Norview 29 to halt a Wildcat drive and set up an insurance touchdown for the Pilots.

The Pilots (3-2) marched 71 yards after the recovery for the final margin. Tracy Lewis scored on a 25-yard pass from Jorice Mason with 52 seconds remaining.

Norview, which leads the area in rushing and total offense, piled up 232 yards on the ground against the Wildcats (2-4), but it was the passing of Lewis that did critical damage. Lewis completed six of 11 passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns. His 28-yard toss to Frankie Knox opened the scoring.

VIRGINIA BEACH - Andre Turner returned an interception 28 yards for the game's only touchdown.

After Turner's score with 2:07 remaining in the first quarter, neither team produced much of threat.

Salem (1-4, 1-3) also had the ball at the Bayside 30 in the fourth quarter, but punted.

The Marlins (3-2, 3-1) then sustained their best drive, marching 66 yards while running out the final 8:30.
