ALFRED E. ELLIOTT

Alfred E. Elliott, 85, of the 900 block of Howard Place, died Oct. 12, 1994, in Obici Hospital.

He was a native of Suffolk. Mr. Elliott retired in 1978 from Pond Brothers Peanut Co., Inc., having served as secretary for 51 years.

Mr. Elliott was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where he had served as chairman of the board from 1971-1973, president of the Fellowship Bible Class in 1938 and on the Finance Committee.

His Masonic affiliations began in 1936. He was worshipful master and treasurer of Hiram Lodge (NU)340, AF & AM, now the Nansemond (NU)77 Driver, Va. lodge. He was a past high priest of Mount Nebo RAC (NU)20, a member of the Portsmouth Commandery (NU)5 and a member of the Khedive Temple, where he served as trustee from 1960-1967 and as potentate in 1959.

He was a former secretary for the Suffolk Shrine Club, a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, where he served as director in 1965 and as impresario from 1967-1974 and 1979-1994. He served on various Khedive Oyster Bowl committees.

He was a former member of the Suffolk Bachelors Club, Suffolk German Club and the Suffolk Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include his wife, Florence Jones Elliott; one son, William A. Elliott of Rochester, Mich.; two grandsons, Mark R. Elliott and W. Todd Elliott, both of Rochester; one half sister, Gloria McCullah of Orlando, Fla.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by Dr. Alan Felumlee and the Rev. T. Floyd Irby. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
