ARTHUR J. STOREIDE

Captain Arthur Julius Storeide, USN (Ret.), 69, died Oct. 10, 1994, at his home.

Captain Storeide was a native of San Francisco, Calif., and attended the University of Washington, where he played varsity football. He became a Naval Aviation Cadet in 1943 and was commissioned a Naval Aviator in 1945. After the war he completed his degree in political science at the University of California-Berkeley. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Captain Storeide served 35 years in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He retired in 1978 and founded Computer Software Consultants, Inc., of which he was chief executive officer until retiring in 1992.

A member of the Roman Catholic Community of Little Creek Amphibious Base, Captain Storeide was also active with the Hampton Roads Rotary Club, and was selected as Rotarian of the Year. He was a member of the Association of Naval Aviation, the Norfolk Hanger of the Quiet Birdmen and the Chesapeake Sailing Association.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jane Storeide; two daughters, Christine Anne Berman of San Francisco and Julie Marie Martinette of Norfolk; a son, Brian Arthur Storeide of Virginia Beach; a brother, Harry A. Storeide of Rogue River, Ore.; a sister, Margarete Hammer of Sonora, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel. A Mass of the Resurrection will be said by Father James Mennis at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, at Little Creek Amphibious Base Chapel. Capt. Storeide will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or St. Mary's Infant Home, Norfolk.
