MASIE B. HOLBROOK

Masie Johnston Bottoms Holbrook, 88, died Monday, Oct. 10, 1994, in Virginia Beach.

Mrs. Holbrook was born in Loris, S.C., and was a resident of Norfolk for 60 years before moving to Virginia Beach. She was the widow of Lawrence L. Holbrook. She was a welder in the Naval Shipyard during World War II and was a former beautician and owner of Ocean Air Beauty Shop.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Francis Hoosack and a son, Charles L. Bottoms, who died in World War II. She is survived by a beloved daughter, Betty Joanne Bottoms McCandless and a son-in-law, Bill McCandless of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Carl Hoosack and Charles Hoosack, both of Norfolk, Donna Ittner of Virginia Beach, and Claudia Lacey of Marietta, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, Susie.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, by the Rev. Joseph French. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and at other times at 2221 North Lakeside Drive, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Institute of Health, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, Md. 20892.
