TABLOID TV: PROGRAM WILL AIR SEGMENT ON FAWN HALL

Virginia's tumultuous U.S. Senate race continues to provide sizzle for the airwaves.

The syndicated tabloid TV show ``American Journal'' plans to broadcast a story Monday about Fawn Hall, the blonde beauty who smuggled Iran-Contra documents in her dress when she was Oliver L. North's secretary.

Don't think Fawn will be stumping for votes.

``Oliver North turns his back on Fawn Hall, and she's mad,'' reads the headline on an ``American Journal'' news release pitching the show.

``The story of the beautiful secretary who defied the U.S. Congress for her boss and now can't even get him to come to her wedding.''

``American Journal'' couldn't get an interview with Hall, who is reportedly battling a drug problem.

But producers say they have ``caught her on exclusive video'' at the Florida clinic where she is recovering.

The show will air Monday at 5:30 p.m. on WVEC Channel 13.

``Her stunning good looks captivated millions of television viewers,'' the release said.

``Now, she's a bit heavier, her trademark `Farrah Fawcett' hairdo is gone, and she has a decidedly unglamorous day job in a book store.''

Also, Watergate conspirator-turned-radio talkshow host G. Gordon Liddy plans to spend part of Tuesday's ``Radio Free D.C.'' broadcast exploring whether Sen. Charles S. Robb used cocaine.

Liddy's guest will be private investigator Billy Franklin, who wrote a book claiming Robb snorted cocaine in Virginia Beach in the early 1980s.

Robb has been invited to participate, though Liddy's producers doubt he'll show.

Liddy and Republican challenger Oliver L. North have been friends since before North announced his bid for the Senate.

The show will air Tuesday at 10 a.m. on WTAR radio, 790 AM. The discussion about Robb is scheduled for the first hour. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
