PAUL R. KOCHER

Ensign Paul R. Kocher, U.S.N., 23, died Nov. 11, in Providence, R.I. following an accident.

Ensign Kocher was a 1994 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and was stationed in Newport, R.I. He was born in Santiago, Chile, and subsequently moved to Puerto Rico with his family. He was educated at St. John's School in San Juan. Ensign Kocher's great-grandparents were the late Lt. Cmdr. William H. Buchanan Sr. U.S.N. Retired and the late Bessie Lee Buchanan of Portsmouth.

Surviving are his parents, Rene and Marguerite Parker Kocher of San Juan; a sister, Denise Kocher of San Juan; godparents, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Buchanan of Chesapeake; cousins, Sherry Buchanan of Chesapeake and Beverly Buchanan of Durham, N.C.; and a great-aunt, Bessie Buchanan Bailey and her husband, James Bailey of Portsmouth.

A memorial service was held on Nov. 12 at Good Hope Chapel, the Naval Station, Newport, R.I. Burial will be in Puerto Rico. Buxeda Funeral Home of San Juan will handle arrangements.
