BETTIE CAINE

Bettie Caine, 73, of the 2300 block of Barraud Ave., a retired cook, died Nov. 24, 1994, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

She was a native of Halifax County, N.C. and was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Lester Caine; two daughters, Dorothy Dixon of Baltimore, Md., Carrie J. Smith of Norfolk; three sons, Linwood Caine, Alexander Caine, and Lester Caine Jr., all of Norfolk; two sisters, Dorothy Strand of Philadelphia, Pa., and Emiley Whatker of Washington, D.C.; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law, Calvin T. Smith of Chesapeake, and John A. Dixon of Baltimore, Md.; four sisters-in-law, Martha Caine, Lilliam F. Daniels, Elgia M. Jones, and Edna L. Caine, all of Norfolk; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Ashley Caine and McKinley Caine, both of Norfolk.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in New Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. G.G. Campbell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Hale Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. The body will be placed in the church Tuesday at 11 a.m. The family will assemble at 2304 Barraud Ave.
