GEORGE W. ARMSTRONG SR.

George Wilson Armstrong Sr., of the 1900 block of Robert Hall Blvd., a retired stevedore, died Nov. 22, 1994.

He was born in Norfolk, Va., and was a member of the Greater Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church. He was employed with ILA Local (NU)1248, and was retired for 16 years with 35 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Nora Armstrong; three daughters, Zunita Armstrong Lee of Virginia Beach, Gloria Armstrong Lindsey of Chesapeake and Dorothy Armstrong Thomas of California; four sons, George Armstrong Jr. of Massachusetts, Milford L. Armstrong, John A. Armstrong and Calvin Armstrong, all of Norfolk; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Lizzie and John Armstrong, both of Hertford, N.C.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Greater Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, 822 E. Brambleton Ave., by the Rev. Thomas E. Tucker Jr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. A wake service will be held on Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Hale Funeral Home Chapel. The body will be placed in the church on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. The family and friends will assemble Tuesday at 5915 Clear Springs Rd., College Park Section, at 10 a.m.
