MARGUERITE K. CARTER

Marguerite K. Carter died Nov. 26, 1994 after a brief illness. She was born in Jackson, Mich. She was the widow of John Armistead Carter Jr., and a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Newport News.

A long-time Hilton resident, she was a graduate of Newport News High School. She studied violin under Mr. I.E. Feldman of Norfolk. For 35 years she played in a chamber music group at the governor's palace in Williamsburg. She was a former member of the Norfolk and Peninsula Symphony orchestras and has made numerous appearances with string ensembles in area churches. She played in the aeolian trio with pianist Emily Shield and cellist Frances Hooper.

Mrs. Carter was president and treasurer of the Norfolk Stationary Co., located in Norfolk, and Virginia Stationary and Office Supply Co.in Portsmouth.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary C. Baker and son-in-law, Darney G. Baker IV of Norfolk; a son, Charles H ``Chuck'' Webber and daughter-in-law, Joanne O. Webber of Highland Beach, Fla.; a grandson, Bradley C. Webber of the University of Miami, and a granddaughter, Amy W. Wiatrak of Minneapolis.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk. The family will receive friends at Peninsula Funeral Home today from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
