CATS IN NORFOLK WILL NEED TAGS EFFECTIVE JAN. 1

Beginning Jan. 1, the city will require that cats, not just dogs, be licensed and wear metal tags on their collars as proof.

All cats and dogs 4 months or older must be licensed.

An owner must produce a certificate proving that the cat's rabies vaccination is current. Licenses can be purchased at the city treasurer's office, the Norfolk SPCA and several hardware stores.

The fees: neutered males, $5; unneutered, $10; spayed females, $5; unspayed, $10; and a kennel with 20 or fewer dogs and cats, $25. For details and locations, call the treasurer's office at 441-2931 or the animal protection office at 441-1776. by CNB
