JUANITA A. LASSITER

Juanita Askew Lassiter, 97, of the 700 block of Edinburg Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 5, 1995, in her residence.

Mrs. Lassiter was a native of Bertie County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Johnnie Askew and Evelyn Hoggard. She was the widow of Clarence Lassiter and was retired from farming. She was a former member of New Calvary Baptist Church of Norfolk and was a member of St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church of Chesapeake, where she served on the Berean Sunday School Class and Floral Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Bernice L. Bostic of Windsor; two sons, Charles Lassiter of Baltimore and Clarence Lassiter Jr. of the home; three sisters, Ms. Vera Askew and Mrs. Mable George, both of Norfolk, and Ms. Idell Askew of Ahoskie; a brother, Leroy Askew of Aulander, N.C.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church by the Rev. G.L. Scott. Burial will be in the Bostic Family Cemetery, Windsor. Viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today in Prelow's Funeral Home, 1002 Whitehead St., Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at 713 Edinburg Ave., Chesapeake, at 12:30 p.m. Sunday for the procession to the church. Wyatt & Sons Funeral Home, Suffolk, is handling arrangements.
