ELIZABETH ``LIZZ'' MCINTOSH: TELEVISION PRODUCTION COORDINATOR

Elizabeth ``Lizz'' McIntosh has what she considers to be a perfect job.

``It's like a dream job,'' said McIntosh, the city's new TV production coordinator and producer of a new monthly program on WCTV, Channel 23, called ``Growing Up in Chesapeake.''

She compared the experience of creating a new television to giving birth.

`` `Growing Up in Chesapeake' was one of the first things they asked me to do,'' she said. ``I guess the most interesting part is the people who I've met and been able to interact with. Community support has been tremendous. There are so many unsung heroes involved in so many programs that people don't know about. And there are so many people who are excited about working with children.''

McIntosh also produces the weekly ``Newsbreak'' program and one story a month for ``Chesapeake Magazine'' for WCTV.

``Everything we do in television is a team effort,'' she said. ``The guys who work at the studio are incredible. They do a heck of a lot of TV with such a little group of people that it's amazing. And they do good work. They are the ones who deserve the credit.

``It gets in your blood,'' she said. ``Television is like that. Producing is what I want to do. Being able to create a program from scratch like `Growing Up in Chesapeake' is a real privilege. It's something every producer dreams about doing.''

Her television background includes working at Hampton Roads' public television station, WHRO, as a production technician and in the programming department and development and marketing department, where she produced some video conferences. She also worked in Old Dominion University's academic television services department doing video conference marketing.

Full name: Elizabeth I. McIntosh

Grew up: ``I was born in Farmville. We moved to Windsor when I was 4.''

Fond childhood memories: ``It was nice to grow in a small town. We didn't lock our doors, and it was a charming place to grow up. We traveled to Farmville to visit my grandparents nearly every weekend when I was a kid. Each Saturday morning, my grandfather and I would drive his old, green pickup truck to Roses. I could have whatever I wanted, but I always picked the roasted cashews. They were salty and warm from the lights in the case and tasted like someone had just made them. It was a special time that just the two of us shared.''

Marital status: Single

Children: Carmen Elizabeth Ferraro

Occupation: Television production coordinator for the City of Chesapeake.

Hobbies: ``I like playing bridge, reading and antiquing. I also have a daughter. She keeps me kind of busy, too.''

Last book book: ``Mists of Avalon''

Favorite movie: `` `White Christmas.' Christmas is by far my family's favorite holiday. Each year we dream of a Christmas morning with snow on the ground. I suppose we like the movie because it reflects a more positive time in our history. And of course, it snows at the end of the movie every time.''

Favorite song: ``It changes depending on what's playing on radio. I love Bryan Ferry's `Boys and Girls.' ''

Can't resist: ``Men's cologne.''

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? ``To make better use of my time. I'm so easily distracted.''

Favorite TV program: ``Growing Up in Chesapeake.''

Favorite Chesapeake restaurant: Locks Pointe Restaurant at Great Bridge.

Biggest problem facing Chesapeake: ``Traffic.''

Favorite way to spend a day off: ``Curled up with the Sunday newspaper. Sometimes it takes all week. But it's well worth it.'' ILLUSTRATION: Staff photo by CHARLIE MEADS
