HERMAN E. ``RED'' PHELPS

Herman E. ``Red'' Phelps, of Harbinger, North Carolina, died February 10, 1995.

Mr. Phelps who was 84, formerly resided in Virginia Beach, Virginia, for 47 years. He operated a landscaping business there for 25 years. He moved to Harbinger upon his retirement in 1975.

Mr. Phelps was a member of the Virginia Beach Church of God. He served as trustee of the church, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, and was a member of the Men's Council.

Mr. Phelps is survived by his wife, Orethia Martin Phelps, 3 daughters and their husbands, Linda and Bob Latta, Rita and Ken Green, and Rose and Gerald Chesteen, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Opal Wynn of Elizabeth City.

A church service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, February 13, 1995, at Virginia Beach Church of God on Wolfsnare and Regency Drive by Reverend Rick Hocker and Reverend Chester Clark. Burial will be at Rosewood Memorial Garden.

There will be a visitation Sunday evening from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel is handling arrangements.
