ALLEN NEEDS HELP

Governor Allen is trying to get state government off peoples' backs. He is being fought tooth and nail by entrenched special-interest politicians.

The situation is analogous to the early 1970s when then-Lt. Gov. Henry Howell attempted to do the same, in part by using the slogan, ``Don't Let the Big Boys Win.''

Unfortunately, the big boys did win. They will win again unless we support the governor.

We elected Governor Allen. We gave him a mandate for change - specifically smaller, more-effective, more-responsive government. We must now support the programs he is trying to put in place or all will be lost. We should write to our elected officials at both the state and local levels endorsing Allen programs. The governor can't do it alone.
