COMMONWEALTH CHORUS CONCERT SET FOR MARCH 18

The Commonwealth Chorus is tuning up for another concert of rich harmony.

The theme for the March 18 event at Lakeland High School is ``College Daze.'' That tells you what to expect: rah-rah music depicting some of the lighter moments at some of the country's institutions of higher learning.

The Chorus will perform such songs as ``Mr. Touchdown, USA'' ``You Gotta Be a Football Hero'' ``The Whiffenpoof Song'' for Yalies and a frat piece, ``Senga Tagga Daya.''

Those are first-half offerings. The second half will feature more traditional songs, including ``It's a Wonderful Day'' ``Keep Your Eye on the Flag'' and the always popular, ``Amazing Grace.''

As with all Commonwealth Chorus concerts, there will be guest performers. This time you can hear BSQ, a Baltimore-based group whose members belong to three different choruses in that area.

They are the 1995 Mid-Atlantic District Quartet champions.

Here is the lineup:

Tenor Bob Seay V has performed with ``Risky Business'' plus the ``Four Seaysons'' whose other members are Bob Seay III, Bob Seay IV and Bob Seay VI.

Lead singer Kevin King is music director of the Patapsco Valley, Md., chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America. He has performed with many mid-Atlantic District quartets, including the international finalists, ``Pros `N' Cons.''

Baritone Jack Pinto is musical director of the Hunterdon Harmonizers of Flemington, N.J. For many years, he performed with the show quartet East Side Kids.

Bass singer Al Mazzoni once sang with Friends of Yesterday, an international competitor.

The Commonwealth Chorus is a member of SPEBSQSA. MEMO: Tickets, at $7, are available from any member or call 357-3113,
