OSIE M. SAWYER SR.

Osie M. Sawyer Sr., 88, of the 900 block of Kinglet Ave., died March 1, 1995, in Virginia Beach.

Mr. Sawyer was born in North Carolina and was retired as a leading man painter from St. Juliens Creek Annex. He was the widower of Lydia Shipley Sawyer and a member of St. Brides Episcopal Church. He was a 50-year member of Doric Masonic Lodge (NU)44 and of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (NU)795.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeannie S. Briggs of Chesapeake; a son, Osie M. ``Mack'' Sawyer Jr. of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Mary Jamison and Mildred Cartwright and a brother, Raymond Sawyer, all of Chesapeake; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk, by the Rev. Father Michael J. Godderz. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today and at 924 Kinglet Ave. at all other times.
