HELEN L. POINDEXTER

Helen L. Poindexter, 85, of the 600 block of Kingsborough Square, a homemaker, died March 24, 1995, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mrs. Poindexter was born in Richmond and was the widow of Thomas W. Poindexter Sr. She was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church for 50 years and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter (NU)75.

Survivors include a daughter, Helen Janet Sanchez of Chesapeake; a son, Thomas Wesley Poindexter Jr. of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Thelma Colgin of Holland Springs, Va., Phyllis Robertson of Midlothian, Va., Billie Pelot of Cumberland, Va.; three brothers, Lesile Dale Miller Jr. of Richmond, Richie Byrd Miller of Colonial Heights, Va. and Gordon Miller of Cartersville, Va.; four grandchildren, Julie and Brian Sanchez of Chesapeake and Michelle and Kevin Poindexter of Virginia Beach. She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Robertson of Richmond.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by Dr. Kelly J. Burris. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Donations may be made to Kempsville Baptist Church Building Fund at 5204 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462.
