FRED T. BLACKWELL

Fred Thomas Blackwell, 70, of the 700 block of Vellines Ave., died March 21, 1995, at Sentara Leigh Hospital.

Fred T. was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He retired after 34 years with the Navy and worked 13 more years as chauffeur for Mr. and Mrs. John L. Roper II (deceased). He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (3rd and 4th degree), American Legion, Fleet Reserve Association, Southside Civic League and former member of the Reindeers.

He is survived by his wife, Ermanell ``Nell'' B. Davis Blackwell; daughters, twins Kristal A. Blackwell Taylor (Vernon), Kim B. Blackwell Taylor (Theodore), and Joyce D. Blackwell Lewis (Leamon); and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Vera Blackwell and Rose Mea Blackwell Hampton; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by an adopted son, Floyd Evern McCoy, one brother, Elmer Blackwell, and two sisters, Velma Blackwell Erby and Delores Blackwell.

A funeral will be held at noon Monday at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception by Father Barrett. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Avenue of Flags.
