SUFFOLK

TRAFFIC CHANGE ON U.S. ROUTE 17: Beginning Monday and continuing through late May, traffic on U.S. Route 17 between Crittenden Road and the Godwin Bridge will be reduced to two lanes.

The southbound lanes of the divided highway will be closed along the milelong stretch while the Hampton Roads Sanitation District installs steel pipes under the Nansemond River.

Traffic across the bridge will not be affected.

During the work, vehicles will travel in both directions on the northbound lanes to allow HRSD access to the river with heavy equipment.

HAMPTON

VICTIM, SUSPECT NAMED IN KILLING: Police on Friday identified the victim and the suspect in the city's fourth homicide of 1995.

Wesley T. Anthony, 35, was stabbed to death Thursday night during an argument in the first block of Calvary Terrace, said Donnie Moore, spokesman for the Hampton Police Department.

Arrested and charged in the incident was Elisher R. Parks, 40. Parks was taken into custody Thursday night at the Calvary Terrace address.

The stabbing occurred at about 6:40 p.m. Thursday.

VIRGINIA BEACH

FLIGHT FAIR '95 TODAY: Flight Fair '95, featuring hot air balloons, parachutes, model aircraft, boomerangs, hang gliders and kites, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. today at Mount Trashmore.

The event, free and open to the public, will also feature a kite-flying contest.

Participants are invited to bring their own kites or purchase one for $1.

The city's Parks and Recreation Department and Remax are co-sponsoring the event. by CNB
