THOMAS C. WEYMOUTH SR.

Thomas Chapman Weymouth Sr., age 79, died Friday, April 7, 1995, in Riverside Regional Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Newport News and was owner and president of Weymouth Funeral Home. He was a member of the National Funeral Director's Association, Virginia Funeral Director's Association, Tidewater Funeral Director's Association, Order of the Golden Rule International, Bremond Masonic Lodge 241 A.F. & A.M., Transportation Masonic Lodge 337 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite of Newport News, St. John's Royal Arch Chapter 57, Khedive Temple AAONMS, Warwick Chapter 43 Order of Eastern Star, Peninsula Shrine Club, Warwick Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1711, Moose Legion 199, past president and charter member of the Denbigh Kiwanis Club and Denbigh Christian Church.

Following his graduation in 1934 from Newport News High School, Mr. Weymouth went to work with Newport News Ship Building. Following his work there, he began his own sign painting business and also worked with E.F. Drew and Co. He then relocated to Texas where he worked for the railroad before returning to the Peninsula to begin his career in funeral service with the former Caffee Funeral Home in downtown Newport News. In 1961 Mr. Weymouth founded Weymouth Funeral Home Inc. where he worked as a licensed funeral director until his death.

Fondly known as ``T.C.'' by many friends, Mr. Weymouth is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Etta R. Weymouth; one son, Thomas C. Weymouth Jr. of Anniston, Al.; four daughters, Mrs. Marlene Price of Hampton, Ms. Janet Weymouth-German of Newport News, Mrs. Renee Pegram of Chesterfield County and Ms. Veronica Weymouth of Norfolk; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Weymouth Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. R. Marvin White and the Rev. Bob George. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park with masonic rites by Transportation Masonic Lodge 337 A.F. & A.M.
