PORTER HARDY JR.

Porter Hardy Jr., 91, of the 3100 block of Shore Drive, a former U.S. Congressman, died April 19, 1995, in his residence.

Mr. Hardy was born in Bon Air, Va. He was the son of the late Rev. Porter Hardy and Jane Mahood Hardy. Mr. Hardy was a graduate of Randolph-Macon College and attended Harvard Business School. He represented the 2nd District of Virginia in the U.S. Congress from 1947 to 1969.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Moore Hardy; a daughter, Lynn Hardy Yeakel of Rosemont, Pa.; four grandchildren, Courtney Yeakel Arias, Virginia F. Hardy, Paul M. Yeakel Jr., and Porter Hardy, IV. He was predeceased by his son, Porter Hardy III.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22, in Centenary United Methodist Church in Portsmouth by the Rev. J. Carroll Fink and Chaplain Allen Johnson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
