A domestic dispute early Wednesday escalated to murder, police said Thursday, leaving a man dead and his girlfriend in jail.
Police said Willie Long and Pauline Sanderson, both 41, had been drinking alcohol and were arguing when, about 1:20 a.m., Long was stabbed in the chest. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died.
Sanderson was charged with murder.
The incident occurred in the home the couple shared in the 2000 block of Wagon Road in the Campostella Square section of the city.
The case is still under investigation.
