JOANN COX GILLINGHAM

JoAnn Cox Gillingham died Wednesday, June 14, 1995, in Fort Myers, Fla. Born in Virginia and a former resident of Virginia Beach where she attended Cooke Elementary School, she was a resident of Fort Myers for 27 years.

A service in Fort Myers on Saturday evening, June 17, was conducted by Dr. David Berry, Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Gillingham attended Florida State University. She was in real estate in Fort Myers and Sanibel Island for many years. Since then, she had been a speaker and writer as public relations representative of a health care institution. Until recently a member of the Board of the Fort Myers Chapter, American Red Cross, she was long time member of the A.A. Fort Myers Chapter.

She is survived by her son, Mark Gillingham and granddaughter, Hali Brooke Gillingham of Davie, Fla.; uncle, William A. Cox Jr. and cousin, William A. Cox III of Virginia Beach; and cousins, Michael H. Cox of Portland, Ore., and John H. Cox of Chapel Hill, N.C.

Burial will be in the Cox family plot in Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery, 2020 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, with graveside services by Rev. Andrew J. MacBeth, Rector of Eastern Shore Chapel at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 1995.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
