GLADYS MILLER SIMMONS

Gladys Miller Simmons, 83, of 400 Lake Drive, died Friday, June 23, 1995, in Culpeper Health Care Center.

A native of Princess Anne County, she was a life-long resident. She was the loving wife of the late Vernon William Simmons Sr., and was a member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church; the Beasley-Dawson Bible Class of the church; and the Daughters of America.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by one daughter, Virginia Jessup of Culpeper, Va.; one son, William V. Simmons Jr. of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Lei-Lani Stanley and Cindy Clotterbuck, both of Culpeper, Wanda Simmons, Jimmy Jessup, and Billy Simmons, all of Virginia Beach; five great-grandchildren, Jessica Clotterbuck of Culpeper, Tina Simmons, Toni Simmons and Danielle Jessup, all of Virginia Beach, and Jeremy Stanley of Culpeper; and two great-nieces, Dana Congdon and Robin Crace, both of Virginia Beach.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, June 26, at 10 a.m. in the Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, Pacific Avenue & 19th Street, by Dr. Paul C. Bailey and the Rev. Clarke L. Mindigo. Burial will follow in Willowood Cemetery on Sandbridge Road. The family will receive friends in the Maestas Funeral Home Baltic Avenue Chapel Sunday night from 7 until 8 p.m.
