THOMAS R. WATKINS

Thomas R. Watkins, 69, died Friday, June 30, 1995, at Riverside Hospital in Newport News.

He was a native and lifelong resident of the Virginia Peninsula, where he was a partner in the law firm of Patten, Wornom and Watkins. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Hampton. He was widely known for his involvement in civic, educational and cultural associations of numerous types. He was also a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Fuller Watkins; two sons, Thomas Rollins Watkins Jr. of Newport News, and John Henry Watkins II of Richmond; two daughters, Mary Boswell W. Claiborne and Ann W. Templeman, both of Hampton; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, July 3, 1995, at St. John's Episcopal Church, Hampton. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to St. John's Endowment Fund, St. John's Episcopal Church, 100 W. Queensway, Hampton, Va. 23669, or to Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Va. Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home, Hampton, is handling the arrangements.
