Valentine E. ``Valley'' Miller, 85, of the 3400 block of N. Landing Rd., died Friday, June 30, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Born Dec. 4, 1909, in Geauga County, Ohio, Mr. Miller was the son of the late Jonas C. and Catharine Miller. He moved to the Kempsville area in 1927. A life-long farmer, Mr. Miller operated dairy farms on Rosemont and North Landing roads for more than 40 years. He also served two stints as manager of Yoder Dairies during the 1940's and 1970's.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia, of 64 years, 7 sons: Eli, and Olen, Florida; Elvin and Val Jr., South Carolina; Amos, Georgia; Raymond, North Carolina; and LaVern, Virginia Beach; 3 daughters: Sarah Miller, Chesapeake; Anna Miller, Virginia Beach and Martha Mast, Georgia; one brother, Dan; and sisters, Mary and Katie; 39 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers; one sister; two sons and one granddaughter.
Friends will be received by the family, Sunday, July 2, 1995, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. Relatives and friends may also join the family at 3409 North Landing Road.
Mr. Miller was a member of the Kempsville Mennonite Church, Virginia Beach. A funeral service in charge of pastors Donnie Brenneman and Raymond Kauffman will be held Monday, 2:00 PM at the church, 3261 North Landing Road, with burial following in the Kempsville Mennonite Cemetery.
