The National Night Out will be celebrated by various communities on Tuesday. At 2 p.m., the Chesapeake Sheriff's Office will participate in the annual Night Out Against Crime at the Naval Security Activity Northwest on Ballahack Road. The Sheriff's Office will present a special exhibition featuring a mock felony auto pursuit, arrest and drug dog demonstration. Members of the Sheriff's Office's Fugitive Apprehension Unit will play the roles of fugitives and pursuing officers. The demonstration will feature running commentary by a member of the Sheriff's Office, and all participants will answer questions from the audience.
South Norfolk's Poindexter Street Block Security will observe National Night Out from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the corner of ``D'' and 22nd streets. Participants are asked to bring a covered dish to be shared and their lawn chairs. There will also be a cookout and several activities dealing with crime awareness. by CNB
